Op-eds
As part of my policy engagement, I write regular op-eds on forest-friendly local economic development for a range of publications. From 2021 to 2023, I wrote bilingual monthly op-eds for PlenaMata, a specialized environmental news portal. Since 2024, I have been contributing monthly op-eds for O Estado de São Paulo, one of Brazil’s leading newspapers. Throughout this period, I occasionally joined distinguished co-authors to write op-eds for O Globo and other outlets.
O Estado de São Paulo
O Estado de São Paulo is one of Brazil’s newspapers of record. Since May 2024, I have been publishing a monthly op-ed with my reflections on economic development and the environment in its Green Business section. With the editor’s permission, I reproduce my columns below.
Other Op-eds
As a complement to my regular columns, I occasionally write op-eds for other leading Brazilian publications, including O Globo. These pieces, often written with co-authors, explore various aspects of environmental and economic policy in the Amazon.
PlenaMata
From September 2021 to August 2023, I was one of the inaugural op-ed columnists at PlenaMata, an environmental news portal maintained by InfoAmazônia, MapBiomas and Natura. During this period, I published nearly 20 monthly bilingual (PT/EN) op-eds examining themes related to my research. The original site has been discontinued, but all my columns are reproduced below.
